MANAGER Ronnie Moore welcomes the prospect of being able to base all of Tranmere's training operations at one venue in the future.
The development of a new training complex on the site of the Woodchurch Leisure Centre moved a significant step closer when Wirral Council gave outline planning permission for the project and the linked scheme to build 90 homes on the Ingleborough Road training ground.
Work on the Woodchurch site may not be imminent and details of the facilities to be built have yet to be finalised.
But Tranmere can at least look forward to the end of the current regime, which sees the first team and youth teams training on the leased site at Raby Vale and travelling back to Prenton Park for showering and changing facilities.
Moore said: "Having everything in one place makes sense. We have been trying to find training areas for the youngsters here. All of the rain means there have been occasions when we had to suspend training up at Raby.”
