JASON McATEER says he is ready to consider a return to management with Shamrock Rovers, three years after a brief spell working as number two to John Barnes at Tranmere ended in dismissal.
Shamrock are looking for a permanent replacement for Stephen Kenny, with caretaker boss Brian Laws in contention.
McAteer said: “I would be interested in speaking to them. I would like to be a manager and I have looked at a couple of the jobs in Ireland. I would like to give it a go again. I was disillusioned after I left Tranmere. I didn’t really understand what an assistant manager’s role was and it was very hard work, it was 24/7 and getting paid nothing to do it.
“The pressure on the manager, when it’s a legend like John Barnes and things aren’t going well, is immense.”
