LUCAS Akins is acquiring the knack of notching winning goals for his new club Stevenage.
The 23-year-old midfielder, who left Prenton Park after two seasons for an undisclosed fee just before the start of the campaign, followed up his decisive strike against Leyton Orient by scoring the only goal of Stevenage's 1-0 win at Oldham Athletic from the penalty spot.
Akins scored seven goals in 87 appearances for Tranmere.
l Tranmere open their Johnstone's Paint Trophy campaign with a return trip to Port Vale on Tuesday evening. Rovers were at Vale Park less than a month ago for a pre-season friendly with the Valiants, which finished 1-1.
