Les Parry to enter loan market to bolster wayward Tranmere attack

LES PARRY expects to bolster his Tranmere Rovers squad with the signing of at least one new player before tomorrow’s derby against Rochdale at Prenton Park (7.45pm).

Following Saturday’s 2-1 loss at Yeovil Town, the Rovers boss revealed that an unnamed forward will be joining the club on loan on Monday.

A couple more could follow as Parry looks to freshen up an attack which has been hit by the loss of Enoch Showunmi and Andy Robinson to injury, as well as the departure of Everton loanee Jose Baxter.

Parry said: “Hopefully we’ve got one coming in on Monday so that will give us a lift. We’ve got two others who we’re pushing and pushing. I think their parent clubs are just waiting to see if Championship clubs come in for them before giving them the OK to come to us.”

Parry said the new arrivals can expect to go straight into his starting XI.

“We’re not bringing them in to sit on the bench,” said the Tranmere boss, who was frustrated by his team’s wayward finishing Huish Park on Saturday.

Rovers deserved at least a point, but Andy Williams’ injury-time header condemned the visitors to their sixth successive away defeat. They have now been beaten on their last four visits to Huish Park.

Parry said: “At the end of the day, you can’t concede two poor goals and win games.

“We’ll all be quiet and a little bit narky on the way home. But tomorrow morning we’re back in and we’re back working. We’ve got to put it behind us. There’s nothing you can do about it, it’s gone.

“We’ll look at our performance and see where we can improve, but we can’t be down in the mouth because that will impact on Tuesday.”
