Tranmere Rovers crash out of Cheshire Senior Cup to Woodley Sports

TRANMERE went out of the Cheshire Senior Cup on a night of missed opportunities at Prenton Park.

Rovers were ahead in the second round tie thanks to Cole Stockton’s first half strike.

The interval lead could have been more substantial with Ellis Appleton and Joe Conchie hitting the woodwork.

Woodley Sports levelled after the restart but Tranmere had an opportunity to win the tie inside 90 minutes when striker Mustafa Tiryaki earned a penalty.

However, Max Power saw his spot-kick saved and the game went into extra-time.

The visitors scored twice during the added half-hour, although Tiryaki twice went close for Rovers.
