Rover Flow: Joss Labadie and Martin Devaney on target as Tranmere Reserves beat Oldham Athletic Reserves

Tranmere Rovers Reserves 2 Oldham Athletic Reserves 0: Tranmere posted a third win of the season in the Central League thanks to a 12th-minute penalty by Joss Labadie and fine second-half strike from winger Martin Devaney.

Oldham were unfortunate when Matty Smith headed against the crossbar shortly before half-time. Tranmere fielded a strong line-up, including nine players with first-team experience.

TRANMERE: Coughlin, Holmes, Kay, McChrystal, Bakayogo, Devaney, Power, Labadie, Appleton (Wainwright), Baxter (Kirby), Showunmi (Stockton).

TRANMERE’S League One fixture against Bury will go ahead as scheduled at Prenton Park on Friday, December 30, with a 7.45pm kick-off.

The two clubs were talking about switching the fixture to fill a free weekend at the start of next month after both were knocked out of the FA Cup at the first round stage.

But the Football League were not prepared to agree to the change.
