TRANMERE ROVERS posted their third win in four Football League Youth Alliance outings at Colliers Park, and moved to second place in the table.
Goals from Chris Lynskey, Jordan Holmes and Joe Comchie secured the points.
Tranmere, a little fortunate to be a goal up at half-time, took control of the contest in the second half, adding two more.
Head of youth Shaun Garnett said: “It shows how far we have come as a team that I was critical of the lads at half-time – and we were 1-0 up at that point.
“The performance improved in the second-half and we had to battle to stay on top because Wrexham treated the game as a local derby. A lot of the lads were in a side that struggled for results last season and winning is a good habit to get into.”
Tranmere seek to maintain that winning habit when they take on Carlisle United in a rearranged Alliance fixture at Raby Vale on Saturday, kick-off at 11am.
