Former Tranmere striker Terry Gornell is developing into the best striker in League Two, says Accrington manager John Coleman

Terry Gornell is developing into the best striker in League Two. That's the view of Accrington Stanley manager John Coleman, who signed the 21-year old from Tranmere in August.

Gornell scored his ninth goal of the season for Stanley this week.

And Coleman said: “I think Terry Gornell is fast becoming possibly the best striker in the league.

“His work-rate is magnificent, he’d gone through a spell where he hadn’t scored for a while but he broke that the other week.

“His hold-up play is magnificent and he’s got stronger since he came back to us for the second time around.

“It’s his willingness to work, his willingness to run the channels, he’s a handful for defenders and he’s very intelligent with his link-up play.

“He’s got a bright future ahead of him. He’s young enough to have a great career in the game.”

LIAM DARVILLE, the Leeds United defender who spent six months on loan at Tranmere this season, had his contract at Elland Road terminated by mutual consent this week.

The 20-year-old played 13 senior games for Rovers in the early part of the season before injury problems hampered his progress. He was unable to force his way into Simon Grayson's first-team plans at Leeds.
