Les Parry is urging Tranmere fans to keep backing the team

Les Parry

TRANMERE Rovers boss Les Parry has urged supporters to keep faith with his struggling side.

Saturday’s demoralising 3-0 defeat against Brentford at Prenton Park saw Rovers crash to the bottom of League One.

Many fans voiced their anger at a woeful performance and Parry shares their frustration.

However, he insists the supporters have a key role to play in helping Rovers to climb the table.

“If the lads are not performing to the levels expected then supporters are going to have a go at them and they are going to have a go at me as well which is fair enough,” he said.

“The supporters paid good money to come in on Saturday and used money they could have used for something else.

“If you go and pay half that amount to watch a film at the pictures and it’s rubbish you have a moan when you come out.

“They came expecting a performance at least and didn’t get one.

“A few stay around by the tunnel to have a shout after the game and they are fully entitled to do that – I wouldn’t criticise them for that.

“But what I would say is that now is the time for us all to stick together.

“It’s easy for supporters to cheer when we are 4-0 up and it’s a bit more difficult to get behind the team when you are one or two nil down.

“We need the support of our fans constantly through games and to be fair to them so far this season the support we’ve had has been brilliant.”

Parry admits he tore into his players after Saturday’s setback against Brentford.

The DVD of the game didn’t make for pleasant viewing but the Prenton Park chief won’t dwell on that defeat and is already focused on this weekend’s trip to fellow strugglers Walsall.

“I don’t feel any better now than I did on Saturday,” he added.
