Sam Morrow hands Rovers early season lift

Worse followed when Joss Labadie, another summer recruit, damaged ankle ligaments during the Dagenham game.

“They are going to be out for a few weeks and with the injuries we already have, it does no favours,” Parry admitted.

Parry set about finding reinforcements in the loan market ahead of Tuesday night’s Johnstones Paints Trophy encounter with Accrington Stanley at Prenton Park and the new recruits could well find themselves pressed into League One action during September’s run of difficult League One fixtures.

Tranmere’s planning has also been disrupted by the uncertainty over the future of Ian Thomas-Moore. The 33-year-old striker was stripped of the captaincy while he considered the chance of a move to Rotherham United, the League Two club managed by his father Ronnie Moore, or accepting an offer to add a further year to his contract with Tranmere.

Rovers go in search of their first home points of the League One campaign, and the first victory, when they entertain Peterborough United at Prenton Park on Saturday.

Tranmere have so far been more impressive in three unbeaten away games than in front of their own supporters.

The 2-2 draw at Dagenham was not a good display. Two goals in the final 12 minutes from striker Enoch Showunmi and full-back Aaron Cresswell rescued a point after the visitors played second fiddle to the home side for most of the game.

Parry admitted: “Our performance level did lift in the last 15 minutes at Dagenham. Before that they had a lot of possession and put us under a lot of pressure. After Enoch got his goal we came back strongly and could even have nicked a win at the end. That’s not saying we deserved to.”
