Craig Curran talks about his role in the Tranmere team

CRAIG Curran may have announced his arrival on the first team scene at Tranmere with a hat-trick three years ago but these days the young front man accepts the requirements of a wide attacking role in Les Parry’s 4-3-3 formation is going to limit his scoring opportunities.

Curran notched his sixth goal of the season and his first since December against Norwich and said this week: “I am a striker and scoring goals is what I want to do. But sometimes it does not happen for you.

“I am going to get fewer chances playing this role and it’s important that when they come I try and hit the target.

“But there is a lot of defensive work to be done in the role. It’s been like that for most of the season.”
