Tranmere boss Les Parry signs Marvin Sordell

TRANMERE manager Les Parry beat the transfer deadline by barely an hour to capture young striker Marvin Sordell on a month’s loan from Watford on Monday night.

The 18-year-old first year professional, who boasts four senior appearances and one goal for the Hornets, has been recruited to add a new variation to Rovers attacking options.

Manager Les Parry said: “Marvin is a very promising striker and I’m delighted to have signed him on loan.

“We have been short of goals recently and hopefully Marvin will bring us some added firepower. He is fast and strong and will be a good addition to our squad. I would like to thank Watford’s manager, Malky Mackay, for allowing him to come to us.”

Tranmere, with three goals to show from their last six outings, have been looking for a new face up front since the opening of the January transfer window.

Sordell’s arrival means there will be less pressure on Rovers to rush Bas Savage through the final phase of his recovery from an Achilles tendon injury.

Savage is due to play his first competitive game since April in the reserve team fixture against Wrexham at Cammell Laird today, (kick-off 2pm).
