LES Parry is keeping faith in his belief that Tranmere’s form on the League One road will soon take a turn for the better.
Rovers lost for the ninth time in 11 away league games at Southampton last weekend and the 3-0 reverse left a familiar story of an encouraging performance let down by lack of end product.
The trickle of away points – four from 33 at stake – is a source of frustration for caretaker manager Parry and coaches Shaun Garnett and Wayne Allison as they battle to guide Tranmere away from the threat of relegation.
But the trio remain optimistic that the improvement in Rovers’ results in general terms – Southampton was the first defeat in six league and cup outings – will spread to away league games.
Parry said: “It is frustrating that the results are not reflecting the performances in our league games on the road up to now. All we can do is to carry on doing what we are doing. We believe the results will start to reflect the performances soon.”
Tranmere have won twice on the road in recent weeks at Leyton Orient and Aldershot – but both games were FA Cup replays.
Parry added: “We did well in the Cup games and got results. There is no reason why that can be transferred over to the league form.”
Parry issued “steady as you go” orders to his crew this week, insisting a setback at Southampton is no reason for a change of course.
