Parry added: “It was a funny first-half. We gave away a lot of unnecessary free-kicks and corners. Yet we had all the chances. We should have converted one or two.
“We started slowly in the second-half, then got a stranglehold on the game. It was backs to the wall towards the end but it is always going to be like that for a team in our position because we are so desperate for the win.”
Tranmere have lost only twice in the last eight games under the temporary regime fronted by long serving physio Parry and coaches Shaun Garnett and Wayne Allison.
The overall record of four wins, three draws and five defeats from 12 games compares favourably with Rovers' run under John Barnes of three wins, one draw and 10 defeats in 14 matches.
Parry believes that if the upturn continues, the trio may be able to make a case for keeping the job on a longer-term basis
He continued: “I said in the past that if I'm not going to get the job I want to leave after a win. The results have been such that even if they bring in new manager after a defeat, I could leave with my head held high and so could Shaun and Wayne.
"Results have been good enough to keep us as caretakers. Now the scales are just starting to edge towards the chairman looking at giving us the job until the end of the season."
Parry paid tribute to the "magnificent" backing from supporters in a crowd of just under 5,000.
He said: “We were all on tenterhooks towards the end and the crowd never shut up!”
