LEEDS manager Simon Grayson admits it’s a “surprise” to be facing John Barnes and not Ronnie Moore in the opposition dug-out when Tranmere visit Elland Road tomorrow.
Grayson said: “It was a surprise in the summer when we saw that Ronnie Moore left because Tranmere missed out on getting into the play-offs by 90 seconds or something like that. That’s how bizarre it was.
“Tranmere have made that decision and it was a shock but I know that John has been waiting desperately for a long time to get back into (English) football.
“They’ve changed the squad round and it’s not going to be easy for them because they’ve lost three or four of their better players from last year. They’ve got a lot of youthful lads there, but we know what they’re trying to do.”
Leeds are aiming to extend a start of three straight wins in the League One campaign. Grayson said: “Our belief at the moment is that we can win every game.”
