“We’ve got to look to improve on last season and get promotion.
“John Barnes is a legend and he and Jason both played at the highest level so it will be interesting to work with them.
“I’m always looking to improve my game and I think every manager has helped me so far. I’m sure John and Jason will do the same.”
Meanwhile, Tranmere Rovers have confirmed Prenton Park will be hosting Liverpool’s reserve fixtures in the 2009/10 season.
Chief Executive Mick Horton said: “It will be a good opportunity for any Wirral based Liverpool supporters to come to Prenton Park and watch some of their talented youngsters in action.”
Liverpool’s reserves currently play ten home games a season and are managed by former Tranmere coach John McMahon.
McMahon said: “I spent eight very happy years working at Tranmere; it’s a great club with great facilities and I hope we will see some good results for Liverpool reserves.”
Tranmere have reduced admission prices for the Carling Cup First Round tie against Grimsby Town on Tuesday, 11 August, kick off 7.45pm.
Adults will be admitted for just £10, with seniors (60+) and young persons (17-22) £5 and juniors only £3.
New manager John Barnes said: “This is our first home match of the season and it would be great to get a big crowd.”
