LIVERPOOL and Scotland legend Kenny Dalglish has backed new Tranmere Rovers boss John Barnes to be a success.
The former Liverpool, Blackburn and Newcastle manager worked at Celtic under Barnes’ managerial regime.
And his views have been echoed by Bas Savage, who said he is itching to work with the England legend.
Dalglish said: “John deserves to be back in the game, he has good ideas and a solid knowledge of the game.
“The Tranmere players will enjoy working for him. He will get them playing good football, the way he had Celtic playing.
“For some reason John has always wanted to boss Tranmere. He’s there now and will do well. He was in charge of Jamiaca recently and had a good record.
“John’s time out of the game hasn’t been wasted. He was always in touch with what was going on at different levels.
“Tranmere weren’t far off the play-offs last season so John has something to work with.
“John will work hard to make sure this is just the beginning of a long spell in management.”
Bas Savage, who is recovering from injury, said: “It’s exciting with new management coming in, though Ronnie and Peter did a good job too. A few players have left and there will be new ones arriving so there will be changes from last season.
