IT’S time for Rovers to prove their worth at Prenton Park. Our away form is strong, another fine win last week at Carlisle means we’ve taken seven points from the last three games away from home.
Ronnie Moore’s side simply have to kick on at home now though. It’s been a long time since we could be so confident on our travels, if we could add some consistency at Prenton Park, we will be looking good.
If we are going to get Prenton Park back to its old, intimidating self, we need to add at least a couple of thousand onto the gate. Although the hardcore fans every week will accept a scrappy 1-0 win if it keeps us in the chase, the fair-weather follower won’t, and they’re the people we need to tempt back to Prenton Park with entertaining and pulsating displays.
Easier said than done, obviously, especially in a league in which teams will gladly stick ten men behind the ball and take a point. We have the weapons in our armoury though. I think it’s nearly time to see Chris Shuker back in the starting eleven, although Ian Moore pulled out a big performance at the right time last week. I still worry that we lack that little something upfront. Maybe it’s a case of getting momentum and watching things develop from there.
If we cannot be confident after totally outplaying Carlisle on their own patch and then beating Crewe without really getting out of first gear, we never will be.
Today’s game with Millwall has the potential to be a belter. Both sides will be set up to attack and Millwall’s pace will be a real threat. An impressive performance and result here and we’ll head to Orient in buoyant mood next week.
