Garnett: We didn’t do enough to win the game

TRANMERE RESERVES needed an own goal to salvage a point from an untidy totesport.com encounter at Prenton Park.

Bury hustled Rovers out of their stride during the first half and capitalised on some poor defending to snatch the lead a few seconds before the interval.

The home side were more assertive in the second half and determined pressure brought them level on 52 minutes when Charlie Barnett’s cross was turned into the net by a Bury defender.

Tranmere had chances to take all three points later in the game but could not take them.

Coach Shaun Garnett said: “Bury worked hard to stop us playing and we did not pass the ball well.

“There was an improvement in the second half but we did not produce enough efforts on goal.”

TRANMERE RESERVES: Acherberg, Holmes, Antwi, Waterfall, Cresswell, Shuker, Henry (Fraughan 53), Ahmed, Barnett, Curran, Wilson (Mackreth 70).
