TRANMERE boss Ronnie Moore is working on plans for the next League One campaign with Tranmere – while the future direction of the Wirral club remains less than clear.
Moore confirmed the departure of four members of Rovers’ 2007/08 squad on Monday and revealed that he is aiming to improve the team’s goalscoring potential for next season.
But there is still no word from Prenton Park on whether Moore is to be offered a new contract to replace the two-year deal that runs out this summer, while assistant Peter Shirtliff will also be out of contract next month.
Nor is there any word from the boardroom on talks that took place with Portuguese investment company Best Holdings over a potential takeover of the club.
Moore, keeping the focus on team matters, said: “We are working hard to bring in some new faces to take the club forward and I’m already looking forward to working with the squad ahead of the new season.”
Tranmere confirmed that senior players John Mullin and Robbie Stockdale were not offered new contracts, while junior professionals Mike Jones and Michael Johnston were also released. Johnston, 20, signed a two-year contract with Welsh Premier League club Bangor City earlier this month.
Rovers have offered new deals to Paul McLaren, Steve Jennings, Shane Sherriff, Steve Davies, Paul Henry and Danny Holmes and first year contracts to scholars Terry Gornell and Aaron Cresswell.
Supporters are reminded the deadline for free shirts for juniors and seven free games for new adult season tickets ends on Saturday, May, at 1pm.
