POLICE have arrested an 18-year-old man from Birkenhead on suspicion of attempted murder after another 18-year-old was stabbed in Victoria Park in the early hours of this morning (Monday). Officers were called to the Tranmere area shortly before 4.30am by the ambulance service. Paramedics had been called to Baytree Road to treat an 18-year-old local man for injuries to his stomach and left hand. Following a search of the area, established that the victim had been stabbed during an incident in nearby Victoria Park. Further enquiries led to the arrest of an 18-year-old man at a house in Moore Avenue. A knife has also been recovered from the address and the man is currently in police custody awaiting questioning by detectives. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment. His condition is described by the hospital as stable and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The junction of Well Lane and Baytree Road and the junction of Albany Road and Inglemere Road have been cordoned off for forensic examination.
