RNLI Hoylake and West Kirby Lifeboat show’s record crowds stunned as daredevil Arrows stay sharp

All funds will go towards the £2m RNLI Hoylake Lifeboat Appeal, which has already part-funded Hoylake’s new lifeboat station. The appeal is now trying to replace the Lady of Hilbre lifeboat with a new faster boat.

Ms Jackson added: “The new lifeboat station has state-of-the-art facilities, but our next aim is to replace our current Mersey class lifeboat, which travels at 16 knots, with a new faster carriage launched lifeboat, which can travel at 25 knots.”

Called FCB2, the replacement boat would not only be faster, but would also be capable of operating in extreme conditions.

It would employ new technology to ensure volunteer lifeboat crews can operate as safely and effectively as possible when saving lives at sea.
