AN INVESTIGATION was today under way after a fire at an industrial unit.
Merseyside fire service were called to the blaze at the single- storey building in Chester Road, Heswall, just before 8.10pm on Saturday.
The unit, which measures 30 metres by 20 metres, was connected to two other properties.
But firefighters managed to contain the fire to prevent it spreading.
Chester Road was closed by the police while fire crews tackled the blaze.
The unit was damaged by fire and smoke, and a second unit was also smoke damaged.
Crews from Heswall, Upton, Bromborough and West Kirby fire stations and an aerial appliance and the incident management team all attended.
A spokesman for the fire service’s incident investigation team said the cause of the blaze was being investigated.
