POLICE brought in a banning order to stop youths gathering in part of Merseyside.
The Section 30 order covers the Larch Road area of Birkenhead, where residents have reported problems with anti-social behaviour.
It came into force yesterday and will run for six months until May 3, 2013.
The order means police and PCSOs can move youths on and arrest those who return within 24 hours.
The zone will cover all areas within the boundary of the alleys which run parallel to Larch Road, up to Sycamore Road and down to Borough Road.
Neighbourhood Inspector Paul Vickers, of Merseyside police, said: “We are determined to use every power available to us to stop this behaviour and take action against offenders.”
