THERE will be no need to perfect the American accent for one performer in an upcoming Wirral production of US classic The Crucible.
Newcomer Emma Davis, who lived in Hawaii and Virginia before moving to Wirral last year, will play Abigail in Hand in Hand Theatre’s version of Arthur Miller’s powerful drama, which dramatises the 1692 Salem witch trials.
Heidelberg-born Emma, 18, a student at Liverpool Community College, is hoping to become a zoologist but has a passion for theatre.
While living in America, the talented actress stood in to play Gertrude in a production of Hamlet in Washington, with just two days’ notice to prepare for the part.
The play will be performed at the Floral Pavilion Theatre’s Blue Lounge on March 8 and 9.
The 23-strong cast is taking a rehearsal extract of the play to Treasure House Theatre at the World Museum, Liverpool, on Wednesday, February 13.
The performance will be a free short preview for schools, groups and the general public followed by questions and answers. To attend, call 478 4050.
There will be another preview at Melrose Hall, Hoylake on Saturday, February 23. Call 632 2152.
Tickets for the full shows are £10 and £8, or £5 for a schools matinee at 1pm on Friday, March 8.
Special £2 off vouchers will be available at cafes and restaurants around Marine Point in New Brighton (group and student rate tickets are not part of the offer).
