LONG live the King – one of the world’s top Elvis Presley tributes is returning to Port Sunlight next month.
Michael King is bringing his On Tour with Elvis show to the Gladstone Theatre on Friday, February 1.
Michael, from Rhos-on-Sea, has been a highly successful Elvis tribute for over 15 years and is now a firm favourite with Wirral audiences.
He has been described as one of the most realistic and exciting tribute acts ever and David Stanley, Elvis Presley’s stepbrother, said watching him was “nothing short of spooky”.
On stage, he wears jumpsuits made in the USA from the same patterns used for Elvis’s own costumes.
Michael is the only UK Elvis performer to have received the Las Vegas Elvis Icon award for his performances there with Elvis’s very own Jordanaires.
A spokesman for the Gladstone Theatre said: “Michael King’s On Tour With Elvis is without doubt the UK’s authoritative touring Elvis show.
“Michael manages to recreate and recapture the essence and the power of an Elvis performance in a way
many can only dream of.”
The two-hour show features Elvis’s greatest hits, movie songs and recreates the star’s famous “black leather sit down” section from 1968.
After Michael’s Elvis show, the new season of entertainment at the Gladstone Theatre continues with A Musical Experience by Irby Dance Studio on Sunday, February 3.
The theatre will host the return of the Birkenhead Scouts Gang Show from Wednesday, February 13 to Saturday, February 16.
Local drama groups are also represented in the new season, with Anne Boleyn by Bebington Dramatic Society from February 27 to March 2 and Anything Goes presented by the Port Sunlight Players from March 14 to 16.
Spring dance highlights include Elements by the Hammond Performing Company on Monday, March 18 and a performance of Peter Pan by Lancelyn Dance School on March 23 and 24.
Tickets for all shows are available from the box office on 643 8757 or www.gladstonetheatre.org.uk
