Wirral rock band Guardians announce end of year gigs and release date for self-titled mini album

WIRRAL alternative rock band Guardians have announced another clutch of gigs and a new album as they round off a successful 2012.

The Wallasey band were nominated as one to watch in the inaugural Liverpool Music Awards last month alongside alternative folk band All We Are and acoustic ensemble The Hummingbirds.

Guardians – who are Sean McMinn-Davies (bass guitar), Brad Done (lead guitar, vocals), Craig Henderson (rhythm guitar), and Mike Priest (drums) – say the nomination was one of the highlights of their year – along with beating off stiff local competition to join the line-up for the first Speke Hall Festival.

The summer event saw them supporting The Christians and rock-pop legends Status Quo.

Australian rock band The Sunpilots have picked Guardians as their support for a gig at the Liverpool Lomax after hearing about them on social media.

Craig said: “It's quite an amazing thing when a band you've never met before who don't even live in this country are familiar with your music – we are made up.”

2012 has also seen Guardians lending their support to local good causes, including the Brightside Trust in memory of Wallasey teenager Charlotte Churchill and the Wallasey Sports Awards.

Guardians are releasing a self-titled mini album on January 7, which will be reviewed by national rock magazine Rock Sound in its New Year edition – out on January 2.

Craig said: '”Our ambition for 2013 is to play more festival dates and just get our music out there.

“We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supports us, particularly those who take the trouble to listen to our music and turn out for gigs.

“We really do appreciate it.”
