THE Manor Folk Club has a new name and a new home.
The club is now meeting at The Wallaseyans Club by the Grove Road and Warren Drive roundabout in Wallasey. Its new name is the Wallasey Folk & Acoustic Club.
For the last 14 years it has been based at the Old Manor Club on Withens Lane.
Featuring resident folk artists George and Gill Peckham, Kathy Runswick, Vinny Spencer and Bernie Thomas, it will continue to meet on Sunday nights from 8.30pm to 10.45pm.
Admission is £1 on singers’ nights and free for musicians who are performing.
The club also runs special guest evenings every fourth or fifth Sunday featuring soloists or groups who are well known on the folk scene.
Next week’s guest night will feature Rip Roaring Success, a trio who play double bass, fiddle and guitar and perform Blue Grass, country and swing.
Entrance on guest nights is £5.
The club’s Christmas party night is on December 16. It will be closed on December 23 and 30 and re-open on January 6.
The club’s Gill Peckham said: “We are a very friendly club & look forward to meeting old friends and new.”
Singers nights are open to all musicians. Anyone who would like to perform should arrive by 8.45pm.
