A SPARKLING cocktail of musical favourites will be brought to the stage by West Kirby Light Operatic Society.
The theatre group will present From Handel To Hammerstein – A Musical Voyage, performing an array of classics with something for all tastes.
It promised the concert will take the audience on a musical journey through songs old and new – from classic Cole Porter hits to some of Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical masterpieces.
The group’s 50-strong choir will tackle classic musicals and show tunes.
Songs from Phantom Of The Opera, Mamma Mia! and Les Miserables are just some numbers among its repertoire.
The ensemble will also perform numbers by Rogers and Hammerstein and Sondheim through to Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus and Carl Orff's Carmina Burana.
Pop classics by Simon and Garfunkel, Manhattan Transfer and John Lennon will also feature, while excerpts from WKLOS’s forthcoming production of Titanic The Musical will also be played.
That show takes place at The Liverpool Empire from Tuesday, June 5 to Saturday, June 9 as part of the commemorative events marking the centenary year of the ship’s tragic sinking.
From Handel To Hammerstein will take place at The Concert Hall, in St George’s Hall, Liverpool, on Saturday and Sunday, March 3 and 4.
Performances start at 7.30pm on Saturday and 2.30pm on Sunday.
WKLOS chairman Ray Davies said: “We are delighted to be presenting our first Liverpool concert at the glorious St George’s Hall.
“The program of music is so varied that I am sure there will be something to suit everyone’s tastes and if you have not experienced the West Kirby sound before, then you are in for a real treat.”

WKLOS is now in its 62nd year and is one of the leading amateur musical theatre societies in the UK.
The group is committed to offer the best in non-professional theatre and has presented 62 productions, including UK premieres of Seusical The Musical and Titanic The Musical.
They have also performed old favourites such as Hello Dolly, Oliver and Carousel.
The society most recently produced the UK amateur dramatic premiere of Phil Wilmott’s Once Upon A Time At The Adelphi during its 60th anniversary celebrations.
