Christmas Day opening for Revolver as Birkenhead venue prepares to celebrate the festive season

REVOLVER in Birkenhead will be opening its doors to rock fans this Christmas Day.

The venue will be celebrating Christmas and New Year in its inimitable rock ‘n’ roll style with live music and revelry throughout the holiday season.

Christmas Eve will see the return of modern/classic rock cover band The Kranks, plus a late bar.

Revolver will open on Christmas Day from 8pm to 4am and Boxing Day will feature live music from The Latest.

The rock covers band includes former members of local favourites Dublin Street and Catch 32, and has built up an excellent reputation among rock fans in Birkenhead.

New Year’s Eve will be the usual Revolver all-night extravaganza.

There will be live music from rock/indie bands Filter House and The Lowtones, as well as a free hot buffet.

The outdoor pavilion will be open with a DJ playing a mixed bag of tunes.

Revolver says prices will remain as normal for the celebrations.

Revolver manager Katie Sutton said: “I love it here on New Year’s Eve. Although it’s a long shift, the great mood of the night really carries you along.”

“It has been packed for the last three years and always has a feel-good atmosphere from the outset so get there early!”

Looking ahead to 2012, Revolver is planning a revamp of its main room, with an improved sound and lighting system and changes to seating and decor.

But bosses are pledging the venue will remain affordable for rock fans – and say one thing that will remain unchanged is Revolver’s mix of live music from tribute/cover bands and original and local talent.
