Bebington DJ James Daly sets up his own record label after summer success in Ibiza

A BEBINGTON DJ has set up his own record label – just two years after leaving school.

James Daly, 18, beat hundreds of hopefuls to compete in the British Student DJ championships in Ibiza in the summer, making it through to the final five.

Since returning to the UK, he and friend James Kininmonth have launched Ninety3 Records.

James has taken bookings for work as a DJ as well as producing his own music and releasing tracks through other labels.

He also took on his first DJ residency at a bar in Heswall.

James said he spends every spare minute promoting his music, spurred on by his experience on the White Isle this year.

He said: “I print 200-300 of my mix CDs a month and I go out and give them to all the clubs.

“I have been working mostly on my own productions and getting bookings through my own tracks. If I am not in the studio, I am out trying to promote my music.

“I live in Wirral but I do not spend much time here! If I cannot get to London to promote myself there, I am in Liverpool city centre in the record shops.”

James plans to return to Ibiza next summer and eventually hopes to make the transition to radio.

His success so far has also secured him a booking to DJ at an awards night at his old school, Bebington High.

He said: “I remember getting off the plane in Ibiza and thinking ‘wow, this is it!’. I met so many like-minded people. Everyone is going for the same thing.

“I think because I am so eager to get there I do not really stop!”
