HE might have a successful career spanning music, theatre and television – but blonde bombshell baritone Rhydian is still striving for perfection.
The 28-year-old with the big voice – and bigger hair – shot to fame on the fourth series of The X Factor.
And while series winner Leon Jackson has disappeared back into obscurity, Rhydian has gone on to record three albums – one platinum selling – present his own TV talent search and appear in shows like We Will Rock You and War of the Worlds.
Next March he will make his first major appearance in Wirral at the Floral Pavilion in aid of Age UK Wirral.
The classically-trained Welshman is currently indulging his passion for musical theatre by appearing in a touring production of Grease – but he says it’s still all about the voice.
“It was always theatre that inspired me,” he reveals.
“But I want to continue to train my voice to being one of the best voices in Britain.
“I’m not saying I’m going to be Pavarotti but you have to concentrate on technique and tone.”
Rhydian says the cameo role of lamé suit-clad Teen Angel is the perfect tonic after a hectic 2011.
“I’m in a lucky position and I still pinch myself,” he admits.
“I do a show like this for a few weeks, a few months and that enables me to do other things.
“I’ve had a very busy year. I’ve released a new album, played gigs and I’ve been recording my TV series, which was pretty full on.
