FRESH from supporting classic rock band GMT, Wirral’s The Clan are bringing their brand of feel-good rock ‘n’ roll to Revolver in Birkenhead on Friday (November 25).
The band are veterans of the new wave of British heavy metal which spawned the likes of Iron Maiden, Saxon and Def Leppard.
2011 has seen The Clan playing gigs across the UK – and founding member Craig McDonald says it’s good to be home.
He said: “This year has been extremely busy, supporting GMT and The Union while playing much further afield than the North West.
“In times of recession, people go away with smiles on their faces and we’re happy with that.”
Craig’s previous band, Sinner played alongside bands like Maiden and Saxon but lacked the crucial hit single which propelled their counterparts to the stratosphere.
Craig adds: “These were the days when hit singles could have a huge effect on the bank balance of a record company and it was going to be more likely that the company would consequently back tours and albums for a good while after.
“Ours is not a hard luck story. We are still out there doing it week after week all year round and that’s what counts.”
Keith Thompson, spokesman for Revolver said: “We’re happy to welcome back one of our own purveyors of the power chord, The Clan.”
