WORLD-renowned guitar duo the Katona Twins are coming home next week to perform at Wirral’s International Guitar Festival.
Hungarian-born siblings Zoltan and Peter have garnered plaudits and a host of awards and have played at venues from New York’s Carnegie Hall to the Royal Festival Hall.
Now 42, the brothers moved to Germany at 19 to study and then on to London’s Royal Academy of Music.
Zoltan, who lives in Oxton, moved to the North West ten years ago after meeting his wife Nisha. Peter, who is based in Liverpool city centre, followed four years later.
Their Pacific Road Arts Centre repertoire will include music by Vivaldi, their own classical arrangements – and the twins’ unique take on the world of popular music.
“We’re going to play some crossover pieces,” reveals Peter. “It will be our take on some popular tunes by the Beatles and others including Bohemian Rhapsody.
“Two years ago we did a big tour in Europe called the Night at the Proms.
“There were lots of pop musicians and classical musicians and it was somehow brought together.
