BEBINGTON Dramatic Society is presenting Patrick Barlow’s hilarious adaptation of The 39 Steps at the Gladstone Theatre, Port Sunlight, later this month.
This Olivier-winning stage adaptation, based on John Buchan’s gripping whodunnit, is now in its fourth year at the Criterion Theatre in London’s West End.
It sees the spy story played for laughs, with a cast of four playing all the roles and bringing to life legendary scenes including the chase on the Flying Scotsman and the escape on the Forth Bridge – using only basic stage props.
Performances are from Wednesday, November 16, to Saturday, November 19, starting at 7.30pm.
Tickets are £7 from the box office on 643 8757, Port Sunlight Village, Linghams in Heswall or www.gladstonetheatre.org.uk
The performance on Wednesday, November 16, is a charity evening in aid of The St Vincent de Paul Society, Birkenhead.
The dramatic society’s next production will be the Royce Ryton’s gripping play about Edward VIII and the abdication crisis, Crown Matrimonial, from February 29 to March 3, 2012.
