Tale of tragedy and sorrow comes to New Brighton’s Floral Pavilion with Puccini’s Madam Butterfly

A TALE of tragedy and sorrow will be unleashed at New Brighton’s Floral Pavilion with Puccini’s Madam Butterfly.

Set in Japan at the turn of the century, the ill-fated love story of “Madam Butterfly” Cio-Cio San and American naval officer Pinkerton is one of the best-loved operas of all time.

Puccini merges Western and Eastern music perfectly, bringing this tragedy of love across continents and cultures to life.

Mid Wales Opera are staging lavish production and it will be sung in an English translation by Amanda Holden.

Accompanied by the Mid Wales Opera Chamber Orchestra, this night of theatre is not to be missed.

Nicholas Cleobury will conduct a cast of young singers drawn from the National Opera Companies accompanied by MWO’s much-praised orchestral ensemble.

With some of the most sumptuous music ever written for the opera stage, including the dramatic soprano aria One Fine Day, this brand-new production promises to be an intimate, beautiful and heart-rending experience for opera-goers old and new.
