Liverpool Mozart Orchestra to perform premiere of new work by Oxton composer Emily Howard at Pacific Road Arts Centre to mark its Diamond Jubilee

THE Liverpool Mozart Orchestra (LMO) will celebrate its diamond jubilee with a concert at Pacific Road Arts Centre, Birkenhead, this Saturday (October 8).

The performance will be the world premiere of Mesmerism by Oxton composer Emily Howard, a former cellist in the orchestra.

Acclaimed pianist Alexandra Dariescu will feature as soloist in the new work for piano and chamber orchestra.

The orchestra commissioned the piece to celebrate its 60th anniversary year.

The concert will also feature classics performed by the orchestra in its first season in 1951.

Dr Anne Lund, LMO chairman, said: “We are thrilled at Emily’s success as a composer and delighted to be giving the first ever performance, with Alex, of Emily’s new composition as we celebrate our diamond jubilee.”
