Mersey Clipper pub launching showcase nights for bands and singers

THE Mersey Clipper is looking for bands and singers for its new showcase nights.

The weekly event will be launched next month and take place on Thursdays at the newly-refurbished pub by Tranmere Rovers.

Popular nights Hush Idol, on Wednesday, and Sexy Sundays with Hush will continue but owner Jimmy Liu wants to give newer acts a chance to impress the punters.

He said: “I want to give singers who can’t get on the local circuit a chance to show people what they’ve got to offer.”

In addition to its live music offerings, the Clipper has been completely redecorated and is launching a new menu this Thursday. Its function room also remains open for bookings.

Jimmy said: “The place is looking nice and smart. We’re starting a fantastic new menu but we’re keeping the carvery due to popular demand.

Playing on Friday is Just, followed by Hush on Saturday and Sunday. Steve Thompson will perform on Friday, September 30, with popular duo Crush on Saturday, October 1.
