A HESWALL actress and presenter is coaxing Wirral’s secret shower singers out of hiding with the borough’s own Glee-style pop choir.
Inspired by the hit US comedy-drama, Hi-5 presenter Emma Nowell, from Heswall has launched Gleek Club pop choirs for adults and children.
For the uninitiated, all-singing, all-dancing Glee follows high school “glee club” New Directions and its members as they compete on the show choir competition circuit.
The Wirral version meets every week at Heswall British Legion, taught by Emma and other vocal coaches.
The LIPA graduate told Day and Night: “I realised there’s nothing really like this out there.
“It’s a fun pop choir and we’re learning contemporary songs, nothing classical.
“A lot of people in the choir love singing but they didn’t want to go to amateur dramatics or join a theatre school – they might sing in the shower or do the odd karaoke performance.
“Others have always wanted to sing but they’re not interested in the drama or dance side.
“It’s safety in numbers for people who might not want to perform on their own but we have started to issue solos here and there, taking it a step further for those who want to.
“Everyone leaves with a smile on their face.”
