Floral Pavilion preview for West End star’s Judy and Liza show

WEST End star Emma Dears is previewing her recreation of Judy Garland’s and Liza Minnelli’s famous London Palladium show in New Brighton later this year.

Judy and Liza, a new musical show, will visit the Floral Pavilion Theatre on November 13 before beginning its UK tour.

Dears, as Liza, will be joined by Lucy Williamson as Judy, as well as a four-piece band arranged by Greg Francis.

The performances will be intertwined with images of Judy and Liza, while Emma and Lucy tell the stories of the lives of two legendary stars of stage and screen.

Emma said: “About ten years ago I had the idea for a show about Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli.

“I had always been compared to Liza as a performer and so I started to look into her life.

“The one thing these two fascinating women share is the rare ability to move an audience and yet their personal lives are blighted with tragedy and loneliness.
