ANITA Harris and Brian Capron will be Stepping Out at the Floral Pavilion next week.
The stars will be in New Brighton for Richard Harris’s heart-warming musical, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year with a UK tour.
In a scene that will be familiar to anyone who has ever attended a dance class, Stepping Out opens in a dusty church hall, where ex-professional dancer Mavis Turner holds her weekly tap class.
Every Thursday, in stumbles her well-intentioned but not overly talented troupe, including awkward but enthusiastic Lynne, snooty Vera and streetwise Maxine.
They come together to dance as if no-one is watching – and hope no-one ever will.
But one day the group are invited to perform at a charity gala.
As disbelief turns to sheer terror, this bunch of amateurs must pull together and put on the performance of a lifetime.
Expect toe tapping and plenty of comedy, with an uplifting message.
Brian Capron, best known for his portrayal of sinister Richard Hillman in Coronation Street, plays bumbling but loveable Geoffrey, whose mid-life crisis might just bring with it some mid-life reward.
Much-loved singer and actress Anita Harris plays the snooty Vera.
