SINGER/SONGWRITER Caroline England is celebrating her return to music with a free gig in Hoylake.
Caroline, from Hoylake, took a break from writing and performing to have her daughter Taran Mathilde.
She is now back with her debut album Who Said All is Fair in Love and War?
The album took over two years to complete and was recorded in Merseyside and on the island of Eastdale on the west coast of Scotland.
Caroline has been described as a cross between Alanis Morrisette and Norah Jones and critics have called her music “edgy, urban folk”.
Caroline said: “Writing and recording in such a picturesque and tranquil location was perfect for the laid back songs, it was so relaxed and peaceful.
“Then coming home to record the remaining tracks was an interesting contrast. I think this reflects in the music.”
Caroline funded the recording herself, writing, singing and co-producing the album.
Armed with her acoustic guitar, she is now actively seeking venues to play.
She said: “It’s been almost a year since I took time off to extend my family, bringing into the world a beautiful baby girl.
“I have loved spending so much time with her, watching her change and grow.
“Other than attending a few songwriting open mic nights I have not done much singing at all.
“The time has now come for me to get out there with my album and get some gigs.”
Caroline’s first gig will be at The Plasterers in Hoylake tomorrow (Thursday), starting at 9pm.
She will also be performing at Tides in Hoylake on Saturday, April 3 for the Oxjam festival.
