It’s a family affair for cast members in West Kirby Light Opera Society’s production of Once Upon A Time at the Adelphi

Sales manager Nicky, 40, said: “We rehearse just around the corner from where I live in Hoylake but Kate originally decided not to audition because she goes to Liverpool Theatre School and lives in Aigburth.

“The part wasn’t cast in the first round of auditions so she decided to go for it – I told her she could have her tea at mine if she got it!”

Performing is in the genes – Nicky started in pantomime at the age of 15 and has been a member of West Kirby Light Opera Society (WKLOS) for 12 years.

Nicky said: “Kate always knew she wanted to perform. When she was a little girl I used to take her along to rehearsals, then she was in pantos and went to dance school.

“She’s always supported WKLOS and as a child she was in the chorus of a production of Evita.

“She’s been on stage with me before but only as a child in panto. This will be the first time we have proper scenes together in the same show.

“I’m really excited and looking forward to it. Kate’s career will go on so this could be the first and last time it happens.”
