Have night of your Dreamz

EVENTS for people with physical and mental health disabilities are being run at Birkenhead’s Indigo bar, including a Valentine’s disco on February 15.

The Market Street establishment is hosting a night called Dreamz every Monday evening, from 7.30pm, with the aim of providing a way for people with learning or physical difficulties to meet other people, make friends and maybe even have a dance.

The night is the brainchild of Linda Hicks, whose daughter has Down’s Syndrome.

Linda said: “I have a 25-year-old Down’s Syndrome daughter who is quite able to meet people and have a relationship, but before this event she never had the opportunity.

“Disabled and mentally affected people can’t just walk into a pub and have a drink like others, so nights like these are important.

“We would really like more people to be aware of these nights so that more like-minded people can come along and have fun.”

Revellers can come and join in with their carers, who do not have to pay the £2 entrance fee.

The Valentine’s disco will also include a raffle, with first prize a meal for two at Frankie and Benny’s in Bromborough and two tickets for Birkenhead’s Vue cinema are up for grabs.
