Danielle Greenall prepares for My Fair Lady with a little help from her pupils
AUDIENCES at the Floral Pavilion will be in for a “luvverly” time next week with the arrival of My Fair Lady.
St Paul’s Operatic Society is staging the production from October 29 to 31, with Wallasey teacher Danielle Greenall in the lead role of Eliza Doolittle.
George Bernard Shaw’s much-loved tale, Pygmalion, received a new lease of life when it became, as My Fair Lady, one of the biggest musicals of the 1950s and one of the most successful films of the 1960s.
It tells the story of Henry Higgins, the self-assured phonetician, and Eliza Doolittle, the cockney flower girl, whom the professor is determined to transform into a refined lady.
Audiences can watch Eliza’s transformation over the course of the show, which includes songs like On the Street Where You Live and I’ve Grown Accustomed to her Face.
My Fair Lady marks the St Paul’s Operatic Society’s first visit to the Floral since the revamped theatre opened its doors last year.
