Full Monty comes to New Brighton Floral Pavilion

LADIES, brace yourselves – because The Full Monty is coming to New Brighton this summer.

The musical comedy, performed by Ellesmere Port Musical Theatre Company, will entertain audiences at the Floral Pavilion Theatre from Wednesday August 6 to Saturday August 8 – including a Saturday matinee.

Based on the hit movie, the show will tell the story of six unemployed men, four of them steel workers, who decide to form a male striptease act in order to gather enough money to get somewhere else and for the main character Gaz to be able to see his son.

Despite being a comedy, the production also touches on serious subjects such as unemployment, fathers’ rights, depression, impotence, working class culture and suicide.

Barry Hickman, from the theatre company said: “This comedy will have you laughing, crying and cheering for more.

“The cast may not be young and they may not be pretty but for their premier Wirral show they’re going for no less than ‘THE FULL MONTY’.”

The Ellesmere Port Musical Theatre Company are expecting this production to be just as successful as their last major performance, Boogie Nights.

The group has been in existence for 75 years and has a tradition of presenting high quality entertainment to the public.

In November 2001 the society decided to update its image by putting on even better shows and changing its name from Ellesmere Port Amateur Operatic Society.
