Isobel Toner and Malcolm Hogarth play with The Tony Davis band at Fort Perch Rock

TWO of the best musicians in the North West will perform at Fort Perch Rock’s jazz afternoon this Sunday.

Isobel Toner and Malcolm Hogarth, two of the most respected musicians in the North West, will join the Tony Davis Band for their monthly New Brighton gig.

Ex-Spinner member Tony, of Wallasey, said: “Isobel's string and brass bass playing gives a lift and swing to any band lucky enough to have her as a guest, while her charming personality and sense of fun is intoxicating.

“Malcolm, her partner, is widely recognised as one of the finest and most versatile pianists in the jazz world.

“He is always in great demand and I can't tell you just how delighted I was to catch him between engagements.”

The pair will also appear at the Upton On Severn Jazz Festival, Worcestershire, this Saturday before playing with Tony’s band the next day.

The regular front line artists entertaining this Sunday are Billy Edwards on trumpet, Dave Lee on reeds and Andrew MacKenzie on trombone.

John Blackman will also perform on drums.

The band plays a variety of swing and jazz tunes laced with vocal numbers, mostly of a vintage variety.

As usual Tony will oversee proceedings and provide vocal offerings and announcements.

The event runs from 12.30-3.30pm and costs £4.

Light refreshments are available - and there is a bottle bar.
