TATE LIVERPOOL is holding an evening inspired by Glenn Brown to tie in with the British painter’s retrospective currently on display at the Albert Dock gallery.
It will feature an exclusive tour of the exhibition, presented by curator Laurence Sillars, and a performance by experimental music collective aPAtT.
Sillars, who worked closely with Brown during the show’s planning and installation, will discuss the exhibition in its entirety, from the vast science fiction paintings to the newly-presented works.
The mid-career retrospective of the artist Glenn Brown brings together the largest selection of his work to date, including many paintings and sculptures which have never been seen in the UK before. He works directly from reproductions of existing works, revealing how often we experience visual art second-hand in the form of photography.
Some of his works include pop music references, which form the inspiration behind aPAtT’s performance at the Late at Tate event.
The group will be performing material from their forthcoming album Ogadimma, which features music appropriated from other artists and spans musical genres.
Late at Tate Liverpool: Living Vicariously with Glenn Brown, Thursday March 26, 6-9pm. Further details at http://bit.ly/lateattate
