Wirral duo Telegraph Road cover U2 classic

TALENTED Wirral duo Telegraph Road have recorded their first song with record label, Confidential Records.

The cover version of U2’s Where The Streets Have No Name will be available to download on January 26, from iTunes, Napster, Amazon MP3 and other music download sites.

Telegraph Road band member Mike Peek, of West Kirby, said: “It is a totally different arrangement from the original, using only an acoustic guitar and two vocals.

“My partner Dave Heyes, of Wallasey, arranged the track and we recorded it at 7 Waves Radio’s live room.

“People commented on the track and liked the way it was put together so we decided to approach U2 for permission to release it - we were then contacted by Confidential Records.

“Once the licence was approved by U2’s publishing company we were good to go.”

The musicians have recorded a music video to go with the track which can be seen on YouTube. It has so far had over 1,000 hits and has been added to a U2 fan site.

Mike added: “We are now trying to get the song played on the local radio stations as well as some of the larger commercial stations.

“We would like to thank everyone for all their help - especially Steve Lloyd and the 7 Waves Radio team.”
