BIRKENHEAD Operatic Society return to Pacific Road on December 15 and 16 with their popular “Fanfare for Christmas”, a concert staged in conjunction with the Haydock Band. The night will feature a selection of Christmas music and other festive items. Tickets are £12 (concessions £10), available from BOST on 666 1200.
BOOKINGS are now being taken for Sleeping Beauty, the 2008 pantomime at New Brighton’s Floral Pavilion Theatre. Performances are from December 22 to January 11. Tickets can be booked from 666 0000.
THE Freddie Smith Big Band plays swing music every Wednesday evening at Bebington British Legion, Teehey Road, Higher Bebington. Admission is free and the event starts at 8.30pm. December 17 is party night and there will be free refreshments.
LIVERPOOL Academy of Arts presents a Christmas concert at the Memorial Church on Manor Road, Wallasey, on Tuesday, December 16. The event starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are £5, available from 639 3919.
THE Port Sunlight Players present their traditional pantomime, Jack & Jill, at the Gladstone Theatre, Port Sunlight next month. THE Wallasey Choir is giving an evening of Christmas music fronted by musical director Peter Mills on Friday (December 5), starting at 7.30pm. The Wallasey Arts Council event will include carols with pianist Charles Jordan and folk singers George and Gill Peckham, admission is on the door. On Saturday (December 6) the choir presents a Christmas concert at the Old Manor Club, Withens Lane, Wallasey, starting at 7.30pm.
ST Alban’s Players are presenting their first pantomime at the new Floral Pavilion Theatre from Thursday, January 22 to Saturday, January 24. The production is an up-to-date version of Rumpelstiltskin. The title role is being played by Andrew Nance, whose father Frank performed the same role in the 1970 production at the Floral.
